Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channel-interacting proteins (KCNIPs), belonging to the recoverin branch of the EF-hand superfamily. Members of the KCNIP family are small calcium-binding proteins with EF-hand-like domains and differ in their N-terminus. They are integral subunits of native Kv4 channel complexes and may regulate A-type currents and neuronal excitability in response to intracellular calcium changes. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
