PA1-4172 detects TRAIL in human samples.
It has been successfully used in Western blot procedures.
The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal residues M(223) K S A R N S C W S K D A(235) of human TRAIL.

Target Information

TRAIL (TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family.
It preferentially induces apoptosis in transformed and tumor cells but does not appear to kill normal cells, although it is expressed in most normal tissues.
TRAIL binds to several members of the TNF receptor superfamily, including:

• TNFRSF10A/TRAILR1
• TNFRSF10B/TRAILR2
• TNFRSF10C/TRAILR3
• TNFRSF10D/TRAILR4
• TNFRSF11B/OPG

The activity of TRAIL may be modulated by binding to decoy receptors (TRAILR3, TRAILR4, OPG) that cannot induce apoptosis.
Binding of TRAIL to its receptors triggers activation of MAPK8/JNK, caspase 8, and caspase 3.
Receptors include two death domain-containing receptors (DR4, DR5) and two decoy receptors (DcR1, DcR2) lacking intracellular death domains.
TRAIL is a type II membrane protein expressed in various human tissues and induces apoptosis and NF-κB activation.
