Product Specific Information

Specific for endogenous levels of the ~28 kDa rpS6 protein phosphorylated at Ser244.
Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption with the phosphopeptide used as antigen, but not by the corresponding non-phosphopeptide.


Target Information

Ribosomes catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The gene encodes a cytoplasmic ribosomal protein component of the 40S subunit, belonging to the S6E family.
It is the major substrate of ribosomal protein kinases, with five C-terminal serine residues phosphorylated by different kinases. Phosphorylation is induced by various stimuli such as growth factors and mitogens, while dephosphorylation occurs at growth arrest.
This protein may regulate cell growth and proliferation via selective translation of specific mRNA classes. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
