Product Specific Information
PA1-16959 is specific for the ~36 kDa Speedy/Ringo protein (isoform 2).
After longer exposure, a 31 kDa band can be detected (isoform 1).
A non-specific band may be detected at ~58 kDa.
Suggested positive control: mouse testis lysate or mouse testis protein.
Target Information
Speedy A (also known as SPDYA, SPDY1, Ringo3, or SPY1) is a 313 amino acid protein localized in the nucleus and belonging to the Speedy/Ringo family.
Highly expressed in testis and at lower levels in brain, kidney, heart, bone marrow, colon, lung, liver, spleen, and placenta.
Functions to regulate the G1/S phase transition of the cell cycle by binding to and activating Cdc2 p34, Cdk2, and p27.
Also mediates cell survival during DNA damage, indicating its role in cell cycle progression.
Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
The gene encoding Speedy A maps to human chromosome 2, which contains over 1,400 genes and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome.
