Target Information
FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorochrome dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light, causing molecules to become excited and emit visible yellow-green light. This emission ceases upon removal of the excitation light.
Fluorochrome labeling enables rapid and accurate localization of antigen-antibody interactions in cells, tissues, or other biological structures.
FITC is widely used in immunofluorescent techniques because conjugation to proteins is simple and generally preserves biological activity.
Anti-FITC antibodies are useful for isolating FITC-labeled cells via magnetic bead sorting and for reducing background signals.
