Target Information
FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorochrome dye that absorbs ultraviolet or blue light, exciting molecules to emit visible yellow-green light. This emission ceases upon removal of the excitation light.
Fluorochrome labeling enables rapid and accurate localization of antigen-antibody interactions when one reactant is part of a cell, tissue, or biological structure.
FITC is widely used as a marker for antibodies in immunofluorescent techniques due to its easy conjugation to proteins without loss of biological activity.
Anti-FITC antibodies can be used for isolating FITC-labeled cells via magnetic microbead sorting and for reducing background signal.
