Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of Androgen Receptor only when phosphorylated at Ser792.

Target Information

The androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid-hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. It is a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Upon ligand binding, AR translocates to the nucleus, dimerizes, and activates transcription of androgen-responsive genes. AR signaling is essential for development and function of male reproductive organs (e.g., prostate, epididymis) and also plays roles in muscle, hair follicles, and brain. AR is a phosphoprotein that interacts with MAP kinase pathways. Dysregulation of AR signaling is associated with diseases such as prostate cancer, Kennedy's disease, and male infertility. Mutations in AR can lead to complete androgen insensitivity (CAIS).
