This antibody has specificity for Human Peroxiredoxin 5 (PRDX5).
Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) belongs to a growing peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx includes six members categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups.
Except for Prx VI (1-Cys subgroup), the other five 2-Cys Prx isotypes exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.
Mammalian Prxs are 20–30 kDa proteins with varied subcellular localizations:
- Prx I, II, VI: Cytosol
- Prx III: Mitochondria
- Prx IV: Endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
- Prx V: Distributed in peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
