Product Specific Information

The antibody detects an 84 kDa protein corresponding to the molecular mass of WAVE2 on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human K562, mouse C2C12, and rat PC12 cells.

Target Information

WASP (Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein) and N-WASP are downstream effectors of Cdc42 implicated in actin polymerization and cytoskeletal organization. The WASP family also includes VASP and Mena, which accumulate at focal adhesions and regulate actin cytoskeleton dynamics.
WAVE proteins, related to the WASP family, mediate actin reorganization downstream of the Rho family of small GTPases. WAVE1 and WAVE2 regulate membrane ruffling by inducing actin filament clusters in response to Rac activation.
These proteins cooperate with the Arp2/3 complex to promote actin filament formation. WAVE1 (also known as SCAR) is mainly expressed in the brain, while WAVE2 is widely expressed, particularly in peripheral blood leukocytes. WAVE3 forms a multiprotein complex linking receptor kinases and actin. All family members bind actin through a C-terminal verprolin homology domain, transducing signals that alter cell shape, motility, or function.
