Product Specific Information

The HIP1 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD42b molecule, a 135 kDa transmembrane protein also known as platelet gpIb.

• Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
• Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of human platelets. Recommended use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume).
• Cell Range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined).
• Fluorophore: Super Bright 436 (excitation 405 nm, emission 436 nm).
• Recommended Filter: 450/50 bandpass filter or equivalent.

When using multiple Super Bright dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific interactions.

Target Information

CD42b is a platelet activation marker involved in coagulation and platelet aggregation. It interacts with extracellular matrix and adhesion molecules, forming the GPIb-IX-V receptor complex critical for platelet-rich thrombus formation.
It binds to von Willebrand factor (VWF), thrombin, coagulation factors XI and XII, TSP-1, integrin Mac-1, and P-selectin.
CD42b is expressed on platelets and megakaryocytes, and mutations can cause Bernard-Soulier syndrome or platelet-type von Willebrand disease.
