Reconstitution:
Before opening, briefly centrifuge the vial to collect contents at the bottom. Reconstitute lyophilized hIL-13 in sterile, deionized water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL for full activity. Prepare aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C. Further dilutions should be made in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution with FBS or tissue culture grade BSA.

Storage:
Store lyophilized hIL-13 at 2–8°C, preferably desiccated. After reconstitution, store at ≤ -20°C (not in frost-free freezer). Minimize freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity, inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine and chemokine production, and contributing to allergen-induced asthma independent of IgE and eosinophils. IL-13 also influences B cell maturation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II expression, and promotes IgE isotype switching. Structurally similar to IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF, the IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q near IL4 within a cytokine gene cluster.
