Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Human growth hormone (hGH) is a member of the somatotropin/prolactin family, which plays an important role in growth control.
The GH1 gene and four related genes are located at the growth hormone locus on chromosome 17, sharing high sequence identity.
Alternative splicing results in five isoforms (19–24 kDa).
hGH is produced by pituitary somatotroph cells and acts via cytokine receptor family membrane receptors.
Its major role is stimulating body growth by inducing secretion of IGF-1 from the liver and other tissues.
It promotes myoblast differentiation and proliferation, amino acid uptake, and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.
Mutations or deletions in GH1 lead to growth hormone deficiency and short stature.
