This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD29 (integrin beta1 chain), a 130 kDa single chain type I glycoprotein expressed as a heterodimer (non-covalently associated with integrin alpha subunits 1–6).
CD29 is broadly expressed on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells including leukocytes, platelets, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, epithelial cells, and mast cells.

Western Blot conditions: Non-reducing conditions, 6% separating gel, 4% stacking gel.

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, β1 integrin subunit, GPIIa, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed by various cells including all leukocytes.
It forms non-covalently linked heterodimers with at least six different alpha chains (α1–α6, CDa–f), determining the binding properties of β1 (VLA) integrins.

ITGB1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule found on platelets and as a component of protein complexes binding to extracellular matrix proteins.
Decreased ITGB1 expression correlates with multidrug resistance in tumor cells. ITGB1 is upregulated in leukocytes during migration and plays a key role in immune cell trafficking from blood to tissue.
It also regulates tissue damage and inflammatory responses, such as in inflammatory bowel disease. Fibronectin and type I collagen enhance cytokine secretion in airway smooth muscle via ITGB1.

Two major isoforms exist: β1A (found in all tissues except cardiac/skeletal muscle) and β1D (found in cardiac and skeletal muscle).
