Target Information
TCP-1 theta is the theta subunit of the CCT (chaperonin containing TCP1 complex), a chaperonin molecule abundant in the eukaryotic cytosol. It assists in the folding and assembly of newly synthesized proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. TCP-1 theta may play a role in BBsome complex assembly, involved in ciliogenesis and vesicle transport to cilia. It also participates in folding of actin and tubulin. The intact CCT complex consists of eight polypeptides forming a double ring structure and is important for folding of the VHL tumor suppressor protein.
