Target Information
TCP-1 theta is the theta subunit of the CCT (chaperonin containing TCP1 complex), a molecular chaperone abundant in the eukaryotic cytosol. It assists in the folding and assembly of newly synthesized proteins, including actin and tubulin, through ATP hydrolysis. TCP-1 theta may also play a role in BBsome complex assembly, which regulates ciliogenesis and vesicle transport to cilia. The intact CCT complex consists of eight polypeptides forming a double ring structure and contributes to folding of the VHL tumor suppressor protein.
