• Western blot analysis of PA1-188 detects mTOR at approximately 250 kDa in human and non-human primate cells, slightly below the theoretical molecular weight (~280 kDa).
• For optimal results, use a Tris-Acetate SDS gel for high molecular weight protein separation and a nitrocellulose membrane for protein transfer.
• Immunofluorescence analysis shows cytoplasmic and some nuclear staining of mTOR in human B3 and U-2 OS cells.

Target Information

FRAP1 (mTOR) is a serine/threonine kinase that plays a critical role in cellular growth and proliferation. Perturbations in the mTOR/PI3-kinase/AKT pathway are associated with various cancers. FRAP1 is also the target of rapamycin and its analogues, which are used as immunosuppressants and cancer therapeutics. Mutations affecting this gene result in Smith-Kingsmore syndrome.
