Product Specific Information

This antibody detects upregulation of HIF-1α in hypoxic samples.

Target Information

HIF1-alpha (HIF1A) is a subunit of HIF1, a transcription factor found in mammalian cells under reduced oxygen tension. HIF-1 is a heterodimer consisting of alpha and beta subunits, both belonging to the basic-helix-loop-helix PAS family of transcription factors.
HIF1 functions as a transcriptional regulator of the adaptive response to hypoxia, activating transcription of over 40 genes including erythropoietin, glucose transporters, glycolytic enzymes, and VEGF.
HIF1-alpha regulates hypoxia-mediated apoptosis, cell proliferation, and tumor angiogenesis. It interacts with p53 and p300/CBP complexes, playing a key role in hypoxia-responsive gene induction.
Located on chromosome 14q in humans, HIF1A is involved in pathophysiological processes such as ischemia, cancer, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart disease, and COPD.
