• MA1-412 detects the A and B forms of progesterone receptor from chicken, human, and some species of turtles.
• This antibody does not cross-react with estrogen receptor or glucocorticoid receptor.
• Successfully used in Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures.
• Detects 78 kDa (A form) and 110 kDa (B form) proteins by Western blot.
• Binds both A and B forms of PR, showing higher receptor binding than MA1-411.
• Protein A can be effectively used in immunoprecipitation experiments.
• Immunogen: Progesterone receptor purified from chick oviduct cytosol.
• Reconstitute with PBS before use.

Target Information

The progesterone receptor (PR) is a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors. It mediates the physiological effects of progesterone, playing a central role in reproductive events associated with pregnancy establishment and maintenance.
PR exists as two isoforms:

• Form A (94 kDa)
• Form B (120 kDa) – transcriptionally active form responsible for gene activation in endometrial maintenance, pregnancy, and ovulation inhibition.

PR-A lacks 165 amino acids at the N-terminus compared to PR-B, exposing a 140 amino acid inhibitory domain that represses steroid hormone transcriptional activity.
In its inactive state, PR forms a multiprotein complex with heat shock proteins and immunophilins. Upon progesterone binding, PR undergoes conformational change, dimerizes, and binds to progesterone response elements (PRE), leading to activated transcription.
A null mutation in the PGR gene causes reproductive abnormalities.
