This antibody detects endogenous levels of total ALX3 protein.
Target Information
Aristaless-related genes are a group of paired-related homeobox genes involved in vertebrate embryogenesis regulation. The homeodomain transcription factor ALX3 is expressed in mouse embryos from 8 days of gestation, mainly in neural crest-derived mesenchyme and lateral plate mesoderm. In humans and mice, ALX3 expression is predominant in brain tissue. The Alx3 gene, located on chromosome 1p23–p13, encodes a 343 amino acid protein. Preferential methylation of Alx3 occurs in advanced-stage neuroblastoma, repressing ALX3 expression, which can be restored by the methylation inhibitor 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine. Alx3 (-) mice show no distinct phenotype, but Alx3/Alx4 double mutants exhibit severe craniofacial abnormalities, including cleft nasal regions and malformed neural crest-derived skull structures.
