Product Specific Information
The MAR1-5A3 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse IFN alpha/beta receptor subunit 1 (IFNAR-1).
The type I IFN receptor subunit 1 is co-expressed with IFNAR-2 on nearly all cells and forms a heterodimeric receptor complex that binds to all type I IFNs (IFN alpha and IFN beta).
Type I IFNs are structurally and functionally related proteins with antiviral, antiparasitic, and antiproliferative activities.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse splenocytes at ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Target Information
Interferons are therapeutic agents with anti-tumor and antiviral effects, and modulate immune responses (Biron, 2001; Kirkwood, 2002).
These cytokines act by binding to the Type I Interferon Receptor (IFNAR1).
Downregulation of IFNAR1 influences cytokine signaling magnitude and duration, possibly via phosphorylation of Serine 535 and 539 (Kumar et al., 2003).
