Target Information
Isocitrate dehydrogenases such as IDH1 catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of isocitrate to 2-oxoglutarate. These enzymes belong to two distinct subclasses, one utilizing NAD(+) and the other NADP(+) as electron acceptors.
Five isocitrate dehydrogenases have been reported: three NAD(+)-dependent enzymes localized to the mitochondrial matrix and two NADP(+)-dependent enzymes, one mitochondrial and one cytosolic.
The cytosolic NADP(+)-dependent isozyme encoded by this gene functions in cytoplasmic NADPH production and peroxisomal metabolism. This antibody is specific for the IDH1 mutant R132H.
