Target Information
Troponin (Tn) is the central regulatory protein of striated muscle contraction. It consists of three components: Tn-I (inhibitor of actomyosin ATPase), Tn-T (contains tropomyosin binding site), and Tn-C. Calcium binding to Tn-C abolishes the inhibitory action of Tn on actin filaments, enabling actin–myosin interaction, ATP hydrolysis, and muscle tension generation through allosteric changes in the thin filament.
