Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, canine, chicken, human, mouse, non-human primate, and zebrafish based on 100% sequence homology.
It is specific for the ~60–62 kDa Synaptotagmin protein phosphorylated at Ser309 in Western blots of rat brain lysates.

Target Information

Synaptotagmin 1 is a synaptic vesicle membrane glycoprotein widely expressed throughout the CNS, acting as a Ca²⁺ sensor in exocytosis and neurotransmitter release.
Its Ca²⁺-mediated binding of SNAP25 is essential for the Ca²⁺-dependent triggering of membrane fusion.
Residues within the C2B domain independently regulate endocytic rate and synaptic vesicle size.
Synaptotagmin 1 binds acidic phospholipids requiring both an acidic head group and a diacyl backbone.
It interacts in a Ca²⁺-dependent manner with receptors for activated protein kinase C and also binds neurexins, syntaxin, and AP2 in a Ca²⁺-independent manner.
Dysfunction of Synaptotagmin 1 is associated with food-borne and infant botulism.
