Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris buffer with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates the proliferation of a wide range of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells. TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) is a growth factor with 33% homology to EGF, binds to EGFR, activates tyrosine phosphorylation of the receptor, and stimulates cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
