Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For staining of formalin-fixed tissues, heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris Buffer with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
TGF-alpha is an EGF-related polypeptide growth factor that signals through the EGF receptor and stimulates proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells. It is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and various tumor cells. TGF-alpha induces anchorage-independent transformation in cultured cells. Human, murine, and rat TGF-alpha are cross-species reactive. TGF-alpha (aa 50) shares 33% homology with EGF, binds to EGFR, activates receptor tyrosine phosphorylation, and promotes cell proliferation. It plays a role in tumor initiation by inducing a reversible transformed phenotype.
