Product Specific Information

This TULY56 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56 (Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule, NCAM), a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and involved in neural cell adhesion.
In the hematopoietic system, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells (NKT cells).
TULY56 does not block CMSSB binding, indicating recognition of different epitopes, and performs better after fixation and permeabilization than CMSSB.
Crossreactivity with Rhesus macaque has been observed.

Target Information

CD56 (NCAM) is a transmembrane glycoprotein in the immunoglobulin family that mediates cell adhesion and is widely expressed in the nervous system (120–180 kDa isoforms).
It is found on T cells and NK cells, playing roles in cell migration, axonal growth, and synaptic plasticity.
Polysialic acid modification reduces adhesion activity.
CD56 interacts with extracellular matrix components such as laminin and integrins and is expressed in neuroectodermal-derived cell lines, tissues, and tumors (e.g., retinoblastoma, medulloblastoma, astrocytoma, neuroblastoma).
It serves as a sensitive neuroendocrine marker for neuroendocrine and ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
CD56 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as rabies and blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasms.
