Target Information
The serum deprivation-response protein (SDPR) is a calcium-independent phospholipid-binding protein whose expression increases in serum-starved cells. SDPR serves as a substrate for protein kinase C (PKC) phosphorylation and recruits the polymerase I and transcript release factor (PTRF) to caveolae. Loss of SDPR causes caveolae depletion, while overexpression leads to caveolae deformation and membrane tubulation. SDPR, PTRF, and PRKCDBP are downregulated in breast cancer cell lines and tumor tissue, suggesting potential as prognostic indicators for breast cancer progression.
