Target Information
CD122 (Interleukin 2 receptor) participates in T cell-mediated immune responses and is primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system. It exists in three forms:
- Low affinity form: alpha subunit monomer, not involved in signal transduction
- Intermediate affinity form: alpha/beta heterodimer
- High affinity form: alpha/beta/gamma heterotrimer
The intermediate and high affinity forms are responsible for receptor-mediated endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction. The CD122 gene encodes the beta subunit, a type I membrane protein. Dysfunction of CD122 is associated with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor-negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
