For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, it is recommended to perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
MUC1 (Mucin 1, Episialin, MAM-6, CA 15-3, PEM, EMA) is a large cell surface mucin glycoprotein expressed by most glandular and ductal epithelial cells and some hematopoietic cell lineages.
It is a transmembrane glycoprotein with a large extracellular domain that undergoes complex glycosylation and proteolytic processing. MUC1 is polymorphic, with alleles encoding products containing 30–90 tandem repeats, resulting in variable molecular weights.
MUC1 is expressed on most secretory epithelia, including mammary glands, and is highly expressed in >90% of breast carcinomas and metastases.
Overexpression and altered glycosylation of MUC1 are associated with carcinomas. Multiple alternatively spliced variants exist, though only some full-length forms have been characterized.
