Target Information

The muscle acetylcholine receptor consists of five subunits: two alpha, one beta, one gamma, and one delta. The CHRNB1 gene encodes the beta subunit. Upon acetylcholine binding, the receptor undergoes conformational change, opening an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane. Mutations in this gene are associated with slow-channel congenital myasthenic syndrome.
