Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share a basic structure of two heavy and two light chains (kappa and lambda, each 22.5 kDa). Kappa and lambda chains differ in the antigenic properties of their constant regions, with a kappa:lambda ratio of approximately 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa light chain are useful in identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
