Product Specific Information
MA1-90544 stains Tn antigen in epithelial carcinoma, pancreatic, colon, stomach, and breast tissues.
A suggested positive control for this product is human gastrointestinal tumor.
The antibody is supplied as concentrated tissue culture supernatant in PBS with 0.05% azide.
Target Information
Aberrant glycosylation is a hallmark of cancer cells. The blood group precursors T (Thomsen-Friedenreich) and Tn epitopes are shielded in healthy and benign-diseased tissues but uncovered in approximately 90% of carcinomas.
T and Tn glycoproteins are specific, autoimmunogenic pancarcinoma antigens that may also be found in neoplastic blood cells.
These epitopes act as cell and tissue adhesion molecules, essential in invasion and metastasis of carcinoma.
Immunohistochemical studies of Tn antigen expression in primary breast carcinoma demonstrate its significant correlation with tumor stages, highlighting its prognostic value.
