This antibody detects endogenous levels of Oxytocin Receptor only when phosphorylated at Thr235.
Target Information
The oxytocin receptor (OXTR) belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor family. Its activity is mediated by G proteins that activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. The receptor consists of 389 amino acids with a molecular weight of approximately 43 kDa. The oxytocin–oxytocin receptor system plays a crucial role in uterine contractions during parturition and milk ejection. Oxytocin receptors are expressed in the mammary gland myoepithelial cells, and in the myometrium and endometrium of the uterus near term. Additionally, oxytocin receptors are found in the central nervous system, mediating maternal behavior, bonding, social memory, recognition, sexual and aggressive behaviors, and responses to stress and anxiety.
