Target Information
Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is a copper-containing amine oxidase belonging to a family of enzymes that oxidize primary amine substrates to reactive aldehydes. It plays a crucial role in extracellular matrix formation and repair. LOX also functions in developmental regulation, tumor suppression, cell motility, and cellular senescence. The secreted form contributes to the invasive properties of hypoxic cancer cells, making LOX an important therapeutic target for preventing metastasis.
