Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of KIF1C only when phosphorylated at Ser1092.
Target Information
Kinesins are microtubule-dependent motor proteins responsible for organelle and vesicle transport within cells. KIF1C, a member of the KIF1/Unc104 family, is involved in mitochondrial or synaptic vesicle transport in axons.
Human KIF1C maps to chromosome 17p13 and encodes a 1,103 amino acid protein highly expressed in heart and skeletal muscle. Tyrosine phosphorylation regulates KIF1C-mediated retrograde transport of Golgi vesicles to the endoplasmic reticulum.
KIF1C forms homodimers and associates with 14-3-3 proteins (beta, gamma, epsilon, zeta). In mouse macrophages, KIF1C contributes to anthrax lethal toxin resistance.
