Product Specific Information

The VI-PL2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD61 (integrin beta 3, GPIIIa). CD61 is a 90–110 kDa member of the beta integrin family expressed by leukocytes, platelets, endothelial, and smooth muscle cells. It forms heterodimers with CD41 and CD51 to mediate adhesion, trafficking, proliferation, and differentiation.

• CD41/CD61 integrin: involved in platelet aggregation; binds fibrinogen, von Willebrand Factor (vWF), fibronectin
• CD51/CD61 integrin: binds vitronectin, fibronectin, vWF, fibrinogen; involved in endothelial cell migration and survival

This antibody cross-reacts with canine and several non-human primates (baboon, rhesus, cynomologus monkey).

CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It acts as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, playing a crucial role in platelet aggregation and cell adhesion.
