Product Specific Information
Description:
The 2C9.G3 (HMb3-1) monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse and rat CD61 (integrin beta3). CD61 is expressed by activated T cells, granulocytes, and platelets. It associates non-covalently with integrin alpha subunits alphaV (CD51) to form the Vitronectin Receptor and alphaIIb (CD41) to form gpIIb/IIIa. These complexes mediate adhesion to extracellular matrix components such as fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin, thrombospondin, and von Willebrand factor.
Applications Reported:
The 2C9.G3 antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes and bone marrow cells. Recommended ≤1 µg/test. One test is defined as the amount of antibody required to stain a cell sample in 100 µL final volume. Cell number may vary (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test). Optimal titration is recommended for each assay.

Target Information
CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a glycoprotein expressed on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It functions as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin, and plays a key role in platelet aggregation and adhesion. CD61 forms heterodimers with integrin alphaIIb (CD41) or alphaV (CD51). It participates in cell adhesion and signal transduction. Disorders associated with CD61 dysfunction include Glanzmann Thrombasthenia and Platelet type-16 Bleeding Disorder.
