Target Information
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammals comprises transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeats in the extracellular domain and an IL-1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. These receptors signal through adaptor molecules and are phylogenetically conserved mediators of innate immunity essential for microbial recognition. TLR11 specifically responds to uropathogenic bacteria and plays a protective role against kidney infections in the urogenital system.
