Target Information
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammals comprises transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeats in the extracellular domain and an IL-1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. TLRs signal through adaptor molecules and are phylogenetically conserved mediators of innate immunity essential for microbial recognition.
TLR12 displays a distinct expression pattern in macrophages and epithelial cells of the liver, kidney, and bladder, and does not respond to known TLR ligands.
