Target Information
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammals comprises transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeats in the extracellular domain and an IL-1 receptor motif in the cytoplasmic domain. These receptors signal through adaptor molecules and are conserved mediators of innate immunity, essential for microbial recognition. TLR12 shows expression in macrophages and epithelial cells of the liver, kidney, and bladder, and does not respond to known TLR ligands.
