Product Specific Information
The SK3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59-kDa cell surface receptor expressed by most thymocytes, a subset of mature T helper cells, and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 acts as a receptor for HIV, and SK3 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reactions.
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis and is pre-diluted for direct use. Recommended usage is 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in a final staining volume of 100 µL.
Fluorochrome details:
Brilliant Violet™ 421 emits at 423 nm and is suitable for cytometers equipped with a violet (405 nm) laser.
Buffer recommendations:
When using multiple Brilliant Violet™, Brilliant Ultra Violet™, or polymer dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401-42) or Brilliant Stain Buffer™ (Product # 00-4409-75) to minimize nonspecific interactions.

Target Information
CD4 is a co-receptor for MHC class II molecules and HIV. It is primarily expressed on T helper cells and some monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. At the tissue level, expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of the brain and gut. CD4 participates in T-cell activation via interaction with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.
