Description:
The TS2/16 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD29 (Integrin beta 1), a 130 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that forms heterodimers with integrin alpha subunits to create the VLA (Very Late Antigen) adhesion molecule family. These integrins mediate cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. CD29 is expressed broadly on lymphocytes and monocytes, with lower expression on granulocytes. The TS2/16 antibody exhibits activating activity for beta 1 integrins.

Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use at 5 µL (0.5 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Recommended cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Target Information

ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, CD29):
A 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by various cell types including all leukocytes. Forms non-covalent heterodimers with multiple alpha chains (α1–α6), determining binding properties of VLA integrins. Functions in cell adhesion and migration.
Decreased ITGB1 expression correlates with multidrug resistance in tumor cells. Up-regulated during leukocyte migration and involved in immune cell trafficking, tissue damage, and inflammatory bowel disease.
Two major forms, beta1A and beta1D, differ by 13 amino acids and show tissue-specific distribution.
