Product Specific Information
- Predicted to react with chimpanzee and dog based on sequence homology.
- Heat-mediated antigen retrieval using a sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended for staining paraffin sections.
- Suggested positive control for IHC: human placenta.
- In Western blot, detects a band at ~45 kDa in human duodenum, liver, and lung lysates.
- Minimum incubation time: 1 hour.
- Goat anti-human PAI-1 antibody recognizes human Plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1), also known as Serpin E1.
Target Information
PAI1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor 1) belongs to the serine protease inhibitor superfamily and is the principal inhibitor of tissue-type and urokinase-type plasminogen activators (tPA and uPA).
Platelets are the main source of circulating PAI1, but it is also synthesized and secreted by fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, endothelial cells, hepatocytes, and inflammatory cells.
Expression of PAI1 can be regulated by various factors such as growth factors, cytokines, hormones, inflammatory mediators, metabolic conditions, and environmental stimuli.
Elevated PAI1 levels are associated with thrombosis, obesity, thrombophilia, and metabolic syndrome.
Defects in PAI1 cause abnormal bleeding and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 deficiency.
PAI1 inhibits fibrinolysis by blocking plasminogen activator activity and may promote neuronal survival.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms of PAI1 have been identified.
