DAPK1은 세포 생존, 아폽토시스, 자가포식 관련 신호 경로에 관여하며, 세포 환경에 따라 type I (caspase-dependent) 또는 type II (caspase-independent) 세포사멸을 조절합니다.
또한 PIN1, TPM1, STX1A, PRKD1, BECN1, TSC2, RPS6, MYL9, DAPK3 등을 인산화시켜 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다.
