Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information

CEACAM1 is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily. Two subgroups of the CEA family—CEA cell adhesion molecules and pregnancy-specific glycoproteins—are located within a 1.2 Mb cluster on chromosome 19. Eleven pseudogenes of the CEA cell adhesion molecule subgroup are also found in this cluster.

Originally identified as a biliary glycoprotein in liver bile ducts, CEACAM1 functions as a cell-cell adhesion molecule on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia. It mediates adhesion via both homophilic and heterophilic interactions. The protein is involved in:

  • Tissue differentiation and structural organization
  • Angiogenesis and apoptosis
  • Tumor suppression and metastasis regulation
  • Modulation of innate and adaptive immune responses

Multiple transcript variants exist, with two full-length isoforms identified.
