Target Information
NOTCH3 is a human homologue of the Drosophila type I membrane protein notch. In Drosophila, notch interactions with ligands (delta, serrate) regulate neural development.
In humans, NOTCH3 functions as a receptor for ligands Jagged1, Jagged2, and Delta1 to regulate cell-fate determination.
Mutations in NOTCH3 are associated with cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL).
