  • Antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended prior to immunostaining paraffin tissues.

Target Information

GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase) is a catalytic enzyme involved in glycolysis. It forms a tetramer of identical 37-kDa subunits and catalyzes the reversible reduction of 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate in the presence of NADPH.
Beyond glycolysis, GAPDH participates in DNA replication, DNA repair, nuclear RNA export, membrane fusion, and microtubule bundling. It plays essential roles in apoptosis, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer-related processes. GAPDH interacts with proteins such as amyloid precursor protein (linked to Alzheimer’s disease) and Huntingtin (linked to Huntington’s disease), as well as actin and tubulin.
Due to its high expression in most tissues, GAPDH is widely used as a protein loading control in Western blot analysis.
