Target Information
This gene belongs to the lipoma HMGIC fusion partner (LHFP) gene family, a subset of the tetraspan transmembrane protein superfamily. Mutations in this gene cause deafness in humans, and similar mutations in mice lead to deafness and vestibular dysfunction with degeneration of the organ of Corti. The protein is proposed to function in hair bundle morphogenesis.
