Target Information
This gene encodes a beta chemokine receptor predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptor-mediated signaling are critical for recruiting effector immune cells to inflammation sites. The gene is expressed in various tissues and hematopoietic cells. Expression in lymphatic endothelial cells and vascular tumors suggests roles in leukocyte recirculation and vascular tumor development. It binds most beta-chemokine family members, though its exact function remains unclear. The gene is mapped to chromosome 3p21.3, within a cluster of chemokine receptor genes.
