Target Information
ATF-2 (also called CRE-BP1) is a transcription factor that binds AP-1 and CRE DNA response elements and belongs to the ATF/CREB family of leucine zipper proteins. It interacts with viral oncoproteins and tumor suppressors and is a target of SAPK/JNK and p38 MAP kinase pathways. Cellular stress such as genotoxic agents, cytokines, and UV irradiation stimulate ATF-2 activity via phosphorylation at Thr69 and Thr71.
